Workshop: Problem Based Learning (PBL)

June 12 - June 15, 2012
"Essentials of Problem-Based Learning: Facilitator Training, Curriculum Design, Problem Construction and Student Assessment"

The PBL workshop focuses on teaching medical educators to implement a Problem Based Learning curriculum. SIU has been at the forefront of Problem Based Learning since its inception. The late Dr. Howard Barrows, who was instrumental in creating Problem Based Learning, was in residence at SIU until his retirement. This PBL workshop is based on his work, and will allow participants to experience PBL in its most classical sense, as well as to discuss changes to the classical format to address students' needs.
