Training and Using Standardized Patients in Teaching and Assessment, a 4.5 day medical education workshop, will be held April 30-May, 2012 at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Springfield, Illinois.
This workshop is designed to teach participants to recruit, train, and supervise the performance of SPs as well as to develop cases and assessment materials for use in both teaching and assessment. Research on learners with performance problems at SIU will be presented. Then participants will learn Gordon’s Prerogatives Model as an approach to dealing with their own learners with performance problems.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
1) Identify the prevalence of learner performance problems
2) Discuss a model for identifying learners with performance problems
3) Adapt the model to their own practice
